The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan has hosted an event marking the creation and formal approval of the charter of Green Corridor Union LLC—a joint enterprise established by AzerEnergy OJSC, Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC), and National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan OJSC. The venture is aimed at advancing the Azerbaijan–Central Asia Green Energy Corridor project.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov underscored the significance of the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan during COP29. He also highlighted the accompanying Implementation Program involving these three nations and the Ministry of Energy of Saudi Arabia, which lays the groundwork for the project’s realization.
Soltanov noted that Green Corridor Union LLC, which will be headquartered in Baku, was jointly founded by AzerEnergy, KEGOC, and the National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan to coordinate the corridor’s development. He stressed that the initiative will contribute significantly to strengthening energy security, supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, and advancing the regional green energy agenda. Discussions during the meeting focused on the joint venture’s planned activities.
The event concluded with a formal signing ceremony for the establishment of Green Corridor Union LLC. The agreement was signed by Vice-President of AzerEnergy OJSC Ziyaddin Guliyev, Head of Department at KEGOC Saltanat Shunayeva, and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Electric Network of Uzbekistan Feruz Kurbonov.
It was further agreed that Farhad Mammadov would serve as the Head (General Director) of the newly formed Green Corridor Union LLC.
