A presentation of the policy and technology recommendations titled “Decarbonization of Azerbaijan’s Energy Sector” took place at the Ministry of Energy. The document was developed under the EBRD-supported technical assistance project “Low-Carbon Solutions in Azerbaijan’s Power Sector,” launched as part of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The roadmap aligns with Azerbaijan’s updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0) and national climate goals, outlining a phased strategy to accelerate the shift toward a low-carbon electricity system.
It offers comprehensive recommendations on policies, generation technologies, legislative reforms, institutional mechanisms, capacity building, socio-economic measures, and investment needs to significantly cut CO₂ emissions in the power sector.
The event brought together representatives from the Ministries of Energy, Economy, Finance, and Ecology and Natural Resources, as well as Azərişıq JSC, Azərenerji JSC, AREA, and AERA.
