China's official Xinhua news agency has published an extensive article about the large-scale green energy projects being implemented in Azerbaijan.
The article, titled "How are Chinese builders helping Azerbaijan transition to green energy?", describes the construction process of the Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant. The material cites the words of local engineer Sarvan Gahramanov, who works for the Chinese company "PowerChina Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited" (HDEC): "Two years ago, this place was nothing but bare hills, and the wind covered everything with dust. Now, snow-white turbines rise on this ridge."
With a capacity of 240 MW, this station is the country's largest wind energy facility. The article notes that the station will produce approximately 1 billion kWh of electricity per year, which is enough to meet the needs of more than 300,000 households. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who participated in the opening of the facility, emphasized that it will increase the country's energy capacity and contribute to sustainable development.
Electricity engineer Adil Hasanov, who participated in the project, assessed the importance of cooperation with the Chinese company as follows: "China stands out for its advanced technologies and strong engineering capabilities in the field of green energy. This joint work brings great benefits both for our country and for our specialists."
Project Manager Zhou Lun recalled the difficulties of construction, saying: "Floods, snowy passes, and strong desert winds were a challenge for us. But we delivered all components safely and completed our mission."
The article also emphasizes that during construction, over 200 jobs were created for the local population, and the newly built road infrastructure has facilitated supplies to remote settlements.
The article, which points to Azerbaijan's goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2030, notes that this station will save 220 million cubic meters of natural gas per year and reduce carbon emissions by 400,000 tons.
Ibrahim Adar, Director of the project's investor "ACWA Power," highly praised the professionalism of the Chinese companies, stating: "They demonstrated high technical skill and efficiency at all stages. 'ACWA Power' considers China a key strategic partner in the global energy transition and hopes to further expand cooperation in renewable energy projects in the future."
