A meeting took place at the Energy Regulatory Agency (EMTA), operating under the Ministry of Energy, with a delegation from the World Bank. This was reported citing EMTA.
The meeting was attended by Samir Akhundov, Chairman of the Board of EMTA, and the World Bank delegation led by Stephanie Stalmeister, the World Bank's Country Manager for Azerbaijan. The parties held detailed consultations on the reforms being carried out in the country's gas supply sector, improvements to tariff mechanisms, and the current situation in this area.
In addition, the continuation of efforts to reduce methane emissions in Azerbaijan, the modernization of gas infrastructure, and the possibilities of attracting additional investments from the World Bank and other international financial institutions to support these processes were also discussed.
Both sides at the meeting emphasized the importance of further expanding cooperation to ensure sustainable development and environmental resilience in the energy sector. Such consultations are of significant importance for aligning Azerbaijan's energy policy with international standards and for more efficient management of the sector.
