Georgia's government has obtained a guarantee for the supply of over 2 billion cubic metres of natural gas at a favourable price as a result of discussions with the Azerbaijani side, Report's local bureau informs, citing Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during the presentation of the government's annual report in parliament.
The Prime Minister stated that over the reporting period, gasification projects continued in the country, and more than 60 settlements were connected to the gas network. According to his statement, this step has provided approximately 10,000 households with natural gas.
Kobakhidze emphasised that the discussions with Azerbaijan regarding gas supply, which is of strategic importance for Georgia, have been successfully concluded. "We held extremely important negotiations with our friendly country Azerbaijan regarding gas supply, which is of fundamental importance for our country. These negotiations were successfully completed by the Ministry of Economy, and as a result, we obtained a guarantee for the supply of over 2 billion cubic metres of gas at a favourable price."
The Prime Minister specifically stressed that this agreement is of great significance for strengthening Georgia's energy security.
