According to operational data from the Ministry of Energy, Azerbaijan produced 13.3886 billion kWh of electricity in January-June 2026.
The ministry told Report that the figure represents a 3.3% decrease compared to the same period of last year.
During the reporting period, 10.5949 billion kWh of electricity was generated at thermal power plants (-8%), 1.8917 billion kWh at hydroelectric power plants (+1.7%), and 902 million kWh from other sources (2 times higher).
Within the structure of generation from other sources, wind power plants accounted for 475.7 million kWh, which is 22.7 times more than in the corresponding period of last year. Solar power plants generated 282.7 million kWh (-10.1%), while the Solid Waste Incineration Plant produced 143.6 million kWh (+6.8%).
Including hydroelectric power plants, total electricity generation from renewable energy sources increased by 463.1 million kWh to reach 2.7937 billion kWh, representing a 20% year-on-year increase.
Electricity generation by Azerenerji OJSC amounted to 11.4795 billion kWh in January-June, down 6.8% compared to the same period of last year. The company generated 9.5689 billion kWh at thermal power plants, 1.8832 billion kWh at hydroelectric power plants (+10.1%), and 27.4 million kWh at solar power plants (-10.7%).
Generation at wind power plants operated by Azerishig OJSC totaled 14 million kWh (-4.1%), while independent power plants produced 1.8951 billion kWh (+25.4%).
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported 241.2 million kWh of electricity, which is 66% less than in the corresponding period of last year. Electricity imports increased by 39.5% to 113.1 million kWh.
