In January–June 2026, Georgia imported 71,866 tonnes of oil and petroleum products from Azerbaijan, valued at US$69.8 million.
According to calculations by Report based on data from Georgia’s National Statistics Office, the value of imports from Azerbaijan increased threefold, while import volumes doubled compared to the same period last year.
As a result, Azerbaijan ranked fourth among Georgia’s suppliers of oil and petroleum products.
Overall, Georgia imported 904,212 tonnes of oil and petroleum products worth US$811.8 million from foreign countries during the first six months of 2026. Compared to the same period a year earlier, this represented an increase of 34% in value and 12% in volume.
Russia remained Georgia’s largest supplier of oil and petroleum products during the reporting period, exporting 365.8 thousand tonnes worth US$270 million. It was followed by Türkiye with 87 thousand tonnes worth US$106.8 million, Romania with 115.2 thousand tonnes worth US$105.95 million, Azerbaijan with 71.9 thousand tonnes worth US$69.8 million, and Belarus with 51.7 thousand tonnes worth US$50.9 million.
For comparison, Georgia imported a total of 1.8 million tonnes of oil and petroleum products worth US$1.4 billion in 2025. Of this amount, 172 thousand tonnes valued at US$118 million were supplied by Azerbaijan.
