Azerbaijan's State Oil Company SOCAR and George Washington University in the United States have discussed cooperation in implementing educational programs, conducting academic research, and developing human resources, Report informs, citing SOCAR.
The discussions took place during a meeting between SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf and George Washington University Associate Provost Sevinj Mammadova.
The sides noted that the signing of a Letter of Intent on Cooperation between SOCAR and George Washington University during this year's Baku Energy Week had opened new opportunities for partnership. They also reviewed progress in implementing the document.
During the meeting, the university representatives were briefed on SOCAR's global expansion strategy and projects being implemented in Azerbaijan and other countries.
The sides also highlighted SOCAR's achievements in digitalization and the application of artificial intelligence solutions, including the admission of SOCAR's Urea Plant to the World Economic Forum's Global Lighthouse Network.
The meeting also highlighted the partnership between SOCAR's Baku Higher Oil School and George Washington University in training highly qualified professionals. The sides stressed the importance of further expanding cooperation in this area.
Representatives of George Washington University said they had visited the Baku Higher Oil School and highly appreciated the facilities and opportunities created there.
The parties also discussed joint projects and cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.
