According to Report, Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov said this in a statement to journalists on the sidelines of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku.
According to him, the day when Nakhchivan’s electricity demand will be fully met by “green sources” is not far off. Elnur Soltanov described this as an important indicator for Azerbaijan. He noted that after Eastern Zangazur and Karabakh, Nakhchivan will become the second region in the country to obtain its electricity entirely from “green sources.”
The Deputy Minister said that plans are in place to transmit the surplus “green energy” generated in Nakhchivan, beyond domestic demand, to other regions of Azerbaijan or export it to foreign countries. According to him, this prospect also creates additional opportunities for discussions with investors regarding “green energy corridors.”
Elnur Soltanov also noted that Azerbaijan is currently working on four “green energy corridors.” These include the Caspian Sea–Black Sea–Europe, Azerbaijan–Nakhchivan–Türkiye–Bulgaria, Azerbaijan–Georgia–Türkiye–Europe, and Azerbaijan–Central Asia green energy corridors.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that these projects should be viewed as part of a unified and comprehensive energy strategy. According to him, in the near future, the “green electricity” generated in Azerbaijan will not be limited to meeting domestic demand, but will also create new opportunities for exporting “green energy” to other countries.
