Germany is ready to support the development of projects related to the Green Energy Corridor between Azerbaijan and Europe.
Kristina Haverkamp, Managing Director of the German Energy Agency, made the remarks during a panel discussion held as part of the Germany-Azerbaijan Connectivity Conference.
She noted that Germany has extensive experience in generating electricity from renewable energy sources and integrating renewable power into the country’s energy system. According to Haverkamp, renewables currently account for around 60% of Germany’s electricity mix.
Haverkamp also highlighted digitalization as one of the promising areas for cooperation between the two countries. She said that modern digital solutions can increase the transmission capacity of energy systems without requiring the construction of additional cables.
The Managing Director also pointed to significant potential for cooperation in the maintenance of energy infrastructure. She stressed that building an energy system is not enough; it is equally important to protect, maintain and service the infrastructure over the long term. Germany has extensive experience in this field.
Haverkamp identified capacity building and workforce training as another important area of cooperation. She emphasized the need to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and experience between the two sides, particularly through the participation of young professionals.
