European Commission: Gas and green energy to remain at the center of EU-Azerbaijan cooperation

OCTOBER 08, 2026

The European Union will continue its cooperation with Azerbaijan in the gas sector while also placing greater emphasis on the development of clean energy.

A representative of the European Commission said that the parties had discussed future areas of cooperation in the energy sector within the framework of the EU-Azerbaijan High-Level Energy Dialogue.

According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy, the fourth meeting of the EU-Azerbaijan High-Level Energy Dialogue, held in Brussels on October 2, covered prospects for gas supplies, the development of renewable energy sources, electricity grids, green energy corridors, energy efficiency, and the reduction of methane emissions.

The European Commission representative noted that the meeting was part of the regular energy dialogue between the sides and that they had reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation in the gas sector. At the same time, in line with the priorities established during EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen’s visit to Baku in March, particular attention was also given to the development of clean energy.
